For the record, as the daughter of the Sea King, Ariel is indeed royalty.
I know this because I've seen "The Little Mermaid" 42,000 f#$@ing times over the past 6 months.
TwoBusy's right. Ariel is royalty by birth. Some of those other "princesses," like Snow White and Cinderella, are only royalty by marriage.
